Guided Snowshoe Tour at Donner Summit near Lake Tahoe!!! Join us for a spectacular snowshoe tour at Donner Summit. Snowshoes, trekking poles, parking permit, and experienced guide are included. This tour is great for both beginners and the experienced. Snowshoeing is not hard for most people. It is very similar to walking. We also provide trekking poles which are great for maintaining balance and stability. We will meet at the trailhead at 10AM. Donner Summit is named after the famous Donner Party who trapped by snow in the winter of 1846-47. We will be snowshoeing some on the Pacific Crest Trail! There will be fantastic views of Castle Peak, Donner Lake, and the surrounding area. There will be lots of commentary about the natural history, flora, and fauna of the area. The tour is approximately 3 miles round trip and takes 3 or 4 hours including breaks. Anyone under 18 years old must be with their legal guardian. There may be up to 7 people on this tour.

Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee when we reach Bear Hill and hear the fascinating history of how Bear Hill got it's name. There will be lots of great photo opportunities so be sure to bring your camera! *If there is not enough snow on the ground to safely use snowshoes, we will hike the trail instead. Two pairs of adult-sized snowshoes are provided, additional snowshoes can be rented nearby at the Lodgepole Market or the Wuksachi Lodge
