The Basics

One of the best ways to get an overview of the Burren is to drive along the R480 road, which links the town of Ballyvaughan in the north to Leamaneh in the south and cuts through the heart of the unusual karst landscape. Of course, to truly appreciate the Burren, and to see some of the tiny plants that sprout between the rocks, you’ll need to get out of the car and walk. Numerous signposted trails weave through the UNESCO-listed Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark.

Because of its proximity to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren is often included as a stop-off on Cliffs of Moher day trips from Dublin and Galway, along with 16th-century Dunguaire Castle and the charming village of Doolin, a hub for traditional Irish music. Some tours also include visits to the Aillwee Cave, a series of underground caverns that features a waterfall, bear bones, and unusual rock formations.

From Galway: Guided tour of Cliffs of Moher and The Burren.
The tour included many important sites in the Burren area and the Cliffs of Moher. Nice clean buses, nice lunch stop. Gerry the driver and tour guide not only was knowledgeable about history and geography but also told great stories and jokes, and even sang for us

(Small-Group)Cliffs of Moher, King John's Castle,The Burren Day Trip From Dublin
Our tour guide Jackie was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about Irish history. He was also hysterical - cracking jokes the whole way which made the long car ride back go speedily by. He also gave some very practical local advice on sage and unsafe areas. If you take this tour ask for Jackie. In terms of scenery The Cliffs of Moher are breathtaking.

This tour exceeded my expectations! My tour guide, Paul, was a kind, funny and knowledgeable gentleman who genuinely displayed his passion for his country and his role as a tour guide. Each stop along the tour was truly memorable with each breathtaking scene. A small group tour made the experience more personal. I definitely recommend! This was a trip I’ll never forget!!

We had an amazing day trip to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Aside from our luck with a cloudless sky, our wonderful driver and guide, John, gave us a lot of history of Ireland and information about the area which was a plus. We would definitely recommend this tour; you won't be disappointed!
