The Basics

For many, a ride on the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams, Arizona, to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is a quintessential Grand Canyon experience. It’s possible to ride the railway one way, or choose a round-trip ticket that allows for almost four hours to explore the national park. Most travelers ride the passenger train as part of a day trip to the canyon from Williams, though it’s also possible to spend a night at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel or Maswik Lodge for a more leisurely exploration.

The whole train ride was serene and fun. The singing and train robbery added a lot of extra fun too.

The views of the southern rim of the Grand Canyon were spectacular! Our PSA, Teryl, was great. You can tell she really loves her job and the stories she had to tell along the way were fun an interesting. One suggestion to improve reboarding would be to let the passengers who are in A-E cars that there is one car for getting back on the train and then have a sign on that door with all the letters and then letter each car from the inside. That would save frustration for tired passengers. Thanks!

Taking the train is the best!! Great car ride. First class was worth the extra legroom, quiet ride, snacks, cash bar. Didn’t regret not buying the lunch. The tour bus was awesome. Great information

The robbery on the way home. It was an easy going trip with lots of scenery and stories by the PSA, Dennis. He was most helpful and charming.

The train ride was wonderful. First class tickets were well worth the cost. Our host, Rob, couldn’t have been more hospitable and entertaining. The entertainment was so much fun. The Grand Tour of the Canyon was so nice. Great trip.

The grandeur of the canyon; tour guide was extremely informative and worked around the inclement weather skillfully; train was extremely comfortable with plenty of entertaining features. It's the only way to experience the Grand Canyon! Will come again to experience another season! Than you!

Overall a good day

We booked the train ride, bus ride and lunch. When we checked in we were able to upgrade to the dome car which turned out to be a very good move since the seats were smaller than I expected and there were open seats in the dome car so we were able to spread out. The lunch is not a buffet, it is a sandwich bag lunch with very few choices. The train ride was very pleasant but we could have done with the afternoon signer have a much lower volume. Highly recommend the bus tour, you see a lot with not a lot of hiking which is a good idea unless you are used to walking around at the higher altitude. Overall a very good experience and you can see a lot in one day booking the full tour.

Cameron was a great guide...lots of helpful info. Stickup by Cataract gang was fun, although maybe it should be done on the way in to the GC. Everyone is pretty tired on the way out. Otherwise a fun way to get a taste of the Grand Canyon
