Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden
Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden (Sisodia Rani ka Bagh), which mixes Indian and Mughal architecture, is often visited as part of a guided tour in conjunction with other city attractions. While the beautifully maintained gardens are the main attraction, it's worth checking out the palace interiors and their frescoes.
Things to Know Before You Go
Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden is a must for anyone interested in gardens or landscaping.
Wear sunscreen and bug spray, and bring water as the gardens can get quite hot.
Wheelchair users may find getting around this attraction challenging.
How to Get There
Sisodia Rani Palace and Garden is situated on the outskirts of town, about a 15-minute drive from the Pink City. It’s easy to get an auto rickshaw or taxi to drive you here, though it’s often more economical to visit as part of a private tour, where you’ll have your own car and driver. As the garden is on the road to Agra, it also makes a good stopover between Jaipur and the Taj Mahal.
When to Get There
Sisodia Rani ka Bagh is open daily from morning until late afternoon, and it's at its most pleasant first thing in the morning, when crowds are fewest and temperatures are lower. This is particularly relevant if your visit happens to fall during the hottest months in Jaipur, roughly April through June. The garden is at its prettiest after the blooms of late summer, after monsoon rains.
The Story Behind the Garden
This garden is a symbol of love, constructed as a gift to Princess Sisodia Rani of Udaipur, Maharaja Sawai SIngh's second wife. It was designed as a quiet retreat for the queen, where she could enjoy nature away from the noise of the city.
