Beautiful Trail on a Beautiful Horse

This was a great way to enjoy the vistas of Akureyri. These beautiful, well trained horses took us along the shore and on the vast open air trails. We felt safe and enjoyed meeting the lovely family who operates the tour.

Riding at Skjaldarvik Horse Tours

Our group of 4 were met at our cruise ship as expected and we arrived at the stable within 15 minutes.All the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. We were assessed as to our riding abilities and matched to an appropriate horse.Our guides were both very helpful and gave us several opportunities to go faster than a walk but yet were careful to take care of our safety. We only did a short 1 hour tour, and I would like to experience a longer ride. The surrounding scenery was of course very beautiful, but the trail we rode on was narrow,rocky and sometimes muddy and soft. However we also rode along a dirt road for part of the ride which is where we could ride faster.Afterwards, we were invited to have coffee,tea, and dessert at the guest house. Again the staff was very cordial and allowed us to stay as long as we wanted and drove us back to Akureyri when we were ready. All of us had a wonderful tour.
