Montserrat and Sitges Easy Hike with Hotel Pickup from Barcelona

Our guide Farran was friendly, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable about the sites we visited. He clearly has a passion for Barcelona, and it showed throughout the day. Montserrat and Sitges were both impressive and breathtaking in their own way. The hotel pickup was very convenient, and since we visited on the day of the Catalonia politicians sentencing, many, many roads were blocked by protesters. This made for a very difficult commute back, which Farran handled without complaint, taking 2 additional hours to get us back to our hotel. He really made the whole experience worth it.

Booked this tour shortly after our first tour was cancelled due to weather. We decided to add on the optional trip to Sitges to also see a typical resort town. Good communication of the pick up point ahead of time. Alex is a true outdoorsman who was an excellent guide and is very knowledgeable on the geology and botany of the area. He provided an orientation to Montserrat’s history and the key to the sites to see. Wisely he suggested we not try and see the Black Madonna up close because the line would take at least an hour and they cut off the viewing around 10:30 am. To do this you will need to specifically find a way to arrive much earlier in the day. We managed to explore the mountain and were able to hike down after taking the funicular to top. After the drive to Sitgees, Alex gave us a quick orientation and then set us free to have lunch. We chose to walk along the beach and then meet back up for a short walking tour where Alex pointed out the major sites and spoke about the history of the town from its start as a fishing village to its current role as a resort town. Highly recommend as an option to visit Montserrat.

Monserrat and Sitges tour. Excellent pacing. Tour leader knowledgeable and helpful. Mountain beautiful, walk down gentle ; 45 minutes and doable for most. Ride up exhilarating!
