Depending on the size of the group on the day, your tour will return either to the main office or to the Hard Rock Cafe- in Place Catalunya, which is just a simple 3-5 minute walk from the office.

Start your trip from central Barcelona, continuing by an air-conditioned vehicle on a drive through the lush countryside to the charming village of Besalú. Once you arrive, hop out to begin a walking tour of this ancient city, stopping to admire its streets lined with medieval-era architecture. Then visit a nearby mikveh (a 12th-century Jewish bath) before stopping by a medieval synagogue.

Continue next to Castellfollit de la Roca, a positively minuscule town situated on the edge of a basalt cliff. This tiny village harbors 1,000 citizens in a town that’s just 3,280 square feet (1,000 square meters). Proceed to Rupit, where you have time to wander this beautiful hamlet at your leisure. Stroll the cobblestone roads lined with 16th-century houses, cross the city’s hanging wooden bridge, and make a visit Rupit’s baroque-era Church of Sant Miquel. Feel free to have lunch (at your own expense) before checking out the ruins of the Castle of Rupit set on a picturesque rocky peak.

After Rupit, take a scenic drive towards the sandstone cliffs at Cingles de Tavertet, set in the Ter River Valley, passing by the area’s megalithic tomb and its Iberian Wall as well. Then arrive in Tavertet, taking time to explore the area’s 48 preserved homes from the 16th and 17th centuries with your guide. Hear a few details about the village from your guide before checking out the 11th-century Romanesque Church of Sant Cristòfol. You then have time to take a break, grabbing a coffee (at your own expense) or enjoying a short walk to the scenic overlook at Panta de Sau lake.

Finish your trip with a ride back to Barcelona, during which you enjoy vistas of verdant-green forests like Magatalls, along with the UNESCO Man and Biosphere-listed El Montseny natural park. You are dropped off back at your departure point in Barcelona at the end of the day.

An absolutely great day with a fantastic tour guide! There is a lot to see and it’s worth the price, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to see persevered history in beautiful locations and wanting to learn a little bit about that History.

This was a perfectly planned trip. It was real treat to take a day outside of Barcelona to these picturesque villages in the Pyrenees. Our guide/driver was amazing. During the van ride he explained everything around us and even played great Spanish music during the tour. I only wished we had more time in Rupit to hike in the surrounding area.

Great day trip from Barcelona

Pros: - Besalu and Rupit are BEAUTIFUL. - the place our guide recommended for lunch was fantastic. 3 courses for 15 euro (including a wine and water) - stunning views Cons: - if you are prone to motion sickness bring some pills with you. The road is very winding. - the biggest churches/grounds around the churches in both Besalu (on top of the hill) and Rupit you can't access. - the third 'town' is a very brief photo opportunity, as such I would manage your expectations. Realistically this is 2 towns with a couple of photo stops in between. Tips: - if you are wanting to get any souvenirs do this in Besalu (do not wait for another town, they have far less/no shops and you will miss out) - use the bathroom whenever you have the chance. The drive between places is long.

We were able to take a trip with Rodrigo (Rod) to the medieval villages. At first I was a little shy as I'm not usually the one to be part of tourist groups, or go out sightseeing with a tour guide. Boy was I missing out. Rod was perfect, from the start he made sure everyone onboard was accomadated. Everything was so well planned, and so personal that it just kept you intrigued. He provides the perfect amount of talk time with quiet time as well throughout the journey. I couldn't fly my drone anywhere in Barcelona, and was super excited to be able to take it with me on this trip. We were pretty high up in some of these villages and jt was so peaceful and quite that even flying my drone hundreds of feet in the air away from everyone you were still able to heart it. It was all breathtaking. Every village we visited was super nice, and Rod made sure to give a history of not just the village but how the village fits into the rest of Spain. I love history, and listening to Rod and his history lessons was awesome. Not to mention Rods driving was amazing. Not 1 second of the trip did I feel scared or worried even when we went up some winding roads. I highly highly recommend taking this trip. I wish I would have done it sooner in my trip as I would of probably booked more tours with these guys. If I ever visit Barcelona I am definitely booking another tour. The views were incredible and I was able to take some amazing shots. I wish Viator would let me upload more as I can't upload videos or pictures of too big quality, but I am super happy and will be showing them off to friends for quite some time!!

This was an outstanding trip. Steven was full of information and kept things lively and moving along. The three villages were each unique and together gave you a good sense of the communities and the people of the region

First I need to mention that our guide, Sergio, was just fantastic. So knowledgeable, and fun to be around. He seemed to enjoy being there as much as we did, and that is rare. I loved each village. All was amazing..

I was actually supposed to go on the Tarragona tour but I was given the option to take this Medieval tour instead. I was notified a couple days before which is nice. I guess they didn't have enough people for the Tarragona tour. But I appreciate being told in advance of the changes and giving me time to make my choice. The tour itself was great. I feel I got more than what was described. Our guide Ron was very nice. The description just says 3 villages but we ended up stopping by a view point up on a mountain to see a great view. Also stopped to see that cliff town whose name I can't recall. Ron spoke clearly and I learned a lot about the history of these places. The villages themselves have a very unique charm to them which was a nice change of pace compared with the touristy hustle of Barcelona.

Fabulous day spent with Rod. Besalu really is a gem of a town and being able to explore on our own made it even more fun. Going up into the mountains led to some fun with driving on the winding roads, I see why Spain has so many F1 drivers! Got a great history lesson of Catalonia and the surrounding areas and would highly recommend this as a daytrip out of Barcelona.
