Excellent Chichen Itza Tour From Cancun

The tour bus picked us up form our hotel on time. Ruben kept us entertained on the long ride to Valladolid and then to Chichen Itza. In Chichen Itza we were split into English and Spanish speaking groups and Rodriguez (English speaking group) did an excellent job introducing us to the Mayan history and culture and he made us understand the importance of Chichen Itza in a very interesting way. Overall it was an excellent tour.

Daniel and Abram were great. I love how Daniel provided a history lesson even before our tour. My fiancé and I loved that we were able to have lunch prepared by Mayans. The bus ride was a little long but that’s to be expected

    Fantastic Memorable Trip

We are a British couple who did the deluxe Chichen Itza tour today with Valladolid, Mayan buffet, tequila tasting and cenote swim. Our travel guide was called Frank and our driver was called Rene. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this trip! Rene's coach was really clean and safe. He picked us up from our hotel on time. Frank did a brilliant job of explaining the itinerary and giving us an interesting history of each place we visited with tips about how to make the most of the day. The lunch was delicious and a great portion. Our personal highlights include Chichen Itza, the cenote jump and the mango tequila. You can still enjoy the cenote even if you can't swim. This tour was definitely worth the money. Frank's English translations were very clear and he worked hard to make sure that both Spanish and English speaking guests were catered for. Thank you for a day we will remember for a long time!

The guide Freddy told us about the history of the Maya and Kukulkán people in a very interesting way. This made the Chichen Itzá trip more interesting. The trip was good overall and everything was clear and efficient. The swim stop in Cenote was excellent after the hot day.

The ride was 2 in a half hours long which they didn’t disclose that online. The ride to & from was longer then the excursion. We had the option to choice a English/Spanish speaking tour guide on the bus, he mainly spoke Spanish & was very rude as if we’re not paying attention when we clearly told him that we do not understand what he’s saying. The tour was very unorganized, actually enjoyed the tour itself, getting to know the history behind it. On the website lunch was suppose to be at noon, we didn’t leave the place until 5mins after 1pm. The food was not all that great, I also like the end of the tour where we get to taste the tequila & was able to swim in the cave.

Logistical nightmare. Don't waste an entire day on this tour.

Don't waste your time with Amigo Tours. The tour says it lasts 10-12 hours in the description. It ended up taking about 16 hours in actuality... The day started at 6:30 am. I paid for hotel pick-up and drop-off. Pick-up went fine. By the time everyone was picked up, it was about 8am, and we finally headed to our first destination. Valladolid. This stop has a cathedral, which was pretty, but altogether, the stop is a waste of time. Next stop was in a Mayan town where they sold you souvenirs and you ate an average lunch. If you want a drink, like water, it's not included in the cost of the tour. Chichen Itza was really the only part of the trip that was worth the time. It was impressive, and we ended up with a great tour guide. The last stop - the cenote swim and tequila tasting - was fine, but hard to fit everything into this stop, and the life vest and locker rental was an additional charge. They won't let you swim in the cenote without a life vest. We had about 5-10 minutes to swim after getting our life vests and locker, showering, changing, and tequila tasting. It took about 4 hours to get back home after all of this. The people who paid for pick-up/drop-off were divided into separate shuttles to be dropped off. We were told to go into a specific shuttle that ended up taking us to Playa del Carmen instead of our hotel in Cancun, where we were picked up from earlier in the day.... This ended up adding about 2 hours to our trip to the hotel. By the end of the drop-off, the whole shuttle full of people were complaining. Reservations had been missed because we were getting dropped off WAY later than we were made to expect. We missed our chance to eat dinner at our resort, and only had 90 minutes left to go out to bars once we got back. The driver, who spoke almost no English (this was an english/spanish tour) made us think that a different shuttle was going to come get us throughout the entire ride, so we wouldn't have to continue wasting our time in the Playa del Carmen drop-off shuttle. This never happened until all other passengers were dropped off at their hotels. It was extremely infuriating and unprofessional. Don't waste a whole day with Amigo Tours. Use a different agency to see Chichen Itza. They don't know what they're doing, and could care less about wasting your time.
