Charleston offers great cuisine!

We had a small group of 8 from various places across the US which lent itself to conversations with everyone. John, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the food and history of Charleston. The food selection and restaurants was varied which gave us a good overview of future choices. We enjoyed it very much!

Super disappointed

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared a wealth of information. However, this is not what we signed up for? It was supposed to be a culinary walking tour not a history walking tour. We only made 3 stops for food and most of it was inexpensive bites of cheap stuff like hush puppies, a Schmeer of pimento cheese etc. The last and fourth stop was a handoff of a praline. This to me is not food it’s a freebie given out at many of the stores to lure you in. For the money we spent on this tour I felt it just was not worth it. I’ve been on many other food walking tours that were fabulous compared to this!

First day in Charleston historic and culinary introduction
Susan_T
, Apr 2021
The first stop with our tour guide Susan was at 5 Church restaurant which was in a historic and unique church setting. The food was excellent!! This was located across the street from The Market. We were introduced to a local vendor who made straw baskets. We were taken to 3 other restaurants each offering a different menus special to Charleston. When the tour was completed, we felt we had a good understanding of the layout of the city.
