Classic Self-Drive Vintage Vespa Tour

Our family was so excited about this Vespa tour. We expected it to be one of the highlights of our trip; it ended up being one of the worst. My husband and I took our 4 children and 2 of their spouses (all in their 20's). We were late for our 9:00 tour (one of the kids left their license at the hotel) so our instructor was mad at us before we even started. We knew our ride would be cut short because of this but there was no reason for his rudeness. He expected everyone to ride the Vespa perfectly the first time after very insufficient group training. He pulled one of our daughters off the Vespa before she even had a chance to get it started. Another daughter was in tears from the way he told her she could not ride. I understand he had a responsibility to be sure everyone was safe; all he had to do was tell us we were not proficient. Instead he was yelling at all of us saying none of the girls could drive (after only one practice turn). He finally agreed to let my daughter in law drive - she spent an entire summer driving Vespas at a job she once had! He told our son he had to ride in the instructor's Fiat because he couldn't start his Vespa. Our son finally made the instructor come over to check his Vespa - turns out the reason it wouldn't start was because the battery cable came loose! After such a rough start, no one enjoyed the actual ride. A person whose career is in the people business should have better tact and skill in dealing with the public. Should have been a better experience. Such a shame! After all, who was paying his bill? The customer. Never berate your customer! Lesson number one. Viator would be well advised to check into this. We should get a refund but that would still not make us whole. We were as a group disappointed!

My boyfriend and I booked the Self Drive Vintage Vespa Tour in Tuscany, Italy. It was our favorite activity by far! Our tour guide was very diligent when teaching us how to drive the vespa, ensured we felt safe before hitting the roads, and was so much fun while exploring! He even made sure to snag a few photos of us in front of a beautiful view. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Tuscany area looking for a little adventure.

This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Niccolo was absolutely fab talking us through what to do and providing great instruction! Beautiful sights to be seen and such a great experience! Niccolo was nice enough to stop us at the bus stop in the little green Fiat after! Thank you!!!

Great way to see the real Florence and Tuscan countryside! Not as easy as it looks but well worth the effort.
