Your day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle starts with the train or bus journey from Munich through the German countryside. The entrance fee to the castle is not included (you can pay on the day), but by booking this tour in advance, you receive skip-the-line access to Neuschwanstein so you won’t waste time standing in the ticket queue.

Once inside the enchanting structure, take a tour with a guide, who shares fascinating stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned a new residence in the 19th century. Thought to be mad, King Ludwig II desired a fantasy castle built in the mountains, an obsessive feat that was still incomplete when he died. Visit the best vantage points for views and photo ops of the castle’s towers, interiors and surrounding scenery such as the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle.

Your tour ends with the ride back to Munich. Offering great views, the trains are clean, comfortable, and equipped with washrooms. You may walk around to talk with your fellow travelers and your guide, who can answer any questions you may have about Munich and Bavaria.

A must see and do for everyone.

Absolutely Loved! We thought that we would not like this tour however, it was amazing. Michelle, from Detroit Michigan, was very knowledgeable about the castle and Ludwig II. I loved how she gave background history of the father and grandfather of Ludwig II for those of us who do not know much about German history. Expect a long walk—you must be physical fit. But they do options for those who are not fit enough to walk the hill

Charlie and the Castle Tour Group - YES

I want to say that this tour was much better than many of the reviews stated. From the start, Charlie was accommodating and efficient in the execution of the tour and all the logistics of trains, tours, and busses. Great communication and plenty of free time, too. The storytelling qualities of Charlie's are superb. Great way of teaching the history up to and including the Castle. Would do it again. Ask for Charlie.

Castle guided tour is so bad

The guide was very nice and helpful. We took a train down to the castle and it was all comfortable. The only disappointing part was the castle ‘guided’ tour where they just give you an audio device and you just walk around the less than 5 rooms. We all look like zombies listening to that audio device and walking around. Not fun and nothing much to see or learn from the castle tour. Not worth the trip there alone.

Great trip

The tour guide Stevo made the trip, he was a really nice guy. He was really approachable and knowledgeable about the history of Bavaria and even gave me and my husband a few recommendations of places to visit for his 40th birthday whilst in Munich whilst on the train ride down to the castle. It was 2 hours on the train, but quite pleasant with nice countryside views. When we got to the castle we had time for food and wonder around the village. The castle itself is amazing, loved the tour, would definitely recommend & recommend going with this tour company as was super organised and you don’t have any worry of getting tickets for trains/entry tickets etc. Thanks for a lovely trip, we will definitely revisit here next time we are in Munich 😁

Fairytale Castle

Visually beautiful in a glorious setting. Tour of the house is a bit rushed. Steep walk up which is ideal after all the beer & sausages you will consume in Munich!! Alternatively you can go up in a horse drawn carriage

Beautiful historic site with significance for Bavarian history (and Disney nostalgia too)!

This was a wonderful experience especially for those having an affinity for fairy tales, Cinderella, or Walt Disney! Our guide, Michelle was exceptional, guiding us through the castles history and just making sure the group was exactly where they needed to be and when. Be prepared for the uphill walk. Its not terribly long but is a serious effort, especially for those not fit. I’m a marathon runner and this was pretty serious even with the stops along the way for history and story telling.

Day trip to Disney Castle

The walk up and the view is stunning. However, the tour description gives no indication of the level of physical activity involved. It is a strenuous trip and should be advertised as such. Even walking in the castle is strenuous.

Charlie was a great guide and we had plenty of time to look and wonder around on our own . I enjoyed the small group. The train ride was a very good way to see the beautiful country side

I was disappointed that...

I was disappointed that we had to take a train to public buses. Basically it was like doing it on your own except you have a leader helping you with the logistics. Stevo did know some information about King Ludwig and about the castle. The tour is only 25 min. long and they race you though the castle. It's a shame. It's a spectacular castle both on the outside and inside. Very impressive. It would be nice to have more time there since it was a 10 hour tour. We missed one of the trains do to logistical problems with the bus that never showed up for us.
