As you admire views of wine country, you'll be served a gourmet 3-course meal prepared to your specifications. Extremely disappointing train for lunch and bus to wine.

The website was misleading, no indication that it was a one way trip and bus back. It was not clear that the ride only went partway up Napa valley. No notice change of winery stops from previous night's website. I have been on other wine trains and you were not nickeled and dimed having to pay extra for wine on the train. No salt and pepper on the tables. While waiting for the unwanted bus in St Helena, the train staff were frantically resetting tables, literally throwing bread plates into position. A terribly disappointing rush job for the next departure, which made those of us still sitting there feel like unimportant obstacles. If I had stood up in the isle I would have been injured from the Olympic quality sprinting required of the staff. All of this for $320/head. Never again, no good recommendation form me. Please take me off of your e-mail list.

It was a fun experience, but I expected a little more for that price range. The train ride was the best part. I wish we weren't so crammed with little to none elbow room. Lunch was good but not "outstanding," and the tours could have used some more planning. To be honest, it felt a little improvised, with no palette cleansers or snacks during tastings either. After hours of sipping on different wines, I couldn't taste or enjoy anything.

Avoid Raymond Vinyards at all costs

The train ride was great and food was very good, but this happened at the end. The Raymond vineyards was the worst, most tacky, preposterous vineyard I've ever seen. It would be difficult to imagine being able to create something this terrible on purpose, but boy were they able to. The guide from the start said the owner was eccentric and that "we would see what she meant later". This tour was incredibly expensive and to have this vineyard be the non-train focal point should honestly come with a warning label. Aside from the joke that was the wine tour, we were instructed to get back to the bus "no later" than 12:30 which we all did (probably because we all wanted to escape), and then headed to the train pick-up point where we ended up waiting on the bus for about one hour. The bus slowly got hotter and hotter and we were allowed to leave it until the train got there. Then after the train finally got there we waited another 45 minutes for the train to actually start moving. WTF was the point of getting to the bus at 12:30 again? As bad as the vinyard was, it's still better than waiting in a hot bus for an hour. The only reason why this is 2 stars instead of 1 is because the eventual train ride was still fun, and the food was good. But in no way would I ever do this tour or any other train for wine train again.

It was fun, but the meal and dessert were just alright. Choices were either Carrot cake OR Pumpkin with chocolate Mousse for the desserts. For the price we paid, they should have at least included a glass of wine.Otherwise, the train ride was fun and the wine tpur at Grgich was fun.

A great experience and a bucket list check-off for my husband and me. The train was very beautiful and the whole experience was well run and organized. Parking was plenty and the waiting area/station was clean and comfortable.The meal was outstanding. A great time for an anniversary or just some free time to hang with friends. It was pricey (but worth it).

Took the Wine Train to Grgich Hills winery; I wanted to experience the train and not be in a bus going from winery to winery. One hour train ride to winery, one hour in winery, one hour train ride back. The lunch was excellent; a starter and then the meal. On the way back was the dessert. I enjoyed everything and the train was not crowded that day; I can see on the weekends it is probably not so good. Had our own table. Just be advised that any drinks beyond tap water, you are being charged for, along with tips for the servers (at your discretion but they suggest $10-15 per person). The train is pretty expensive to begin with and I don't think kids would enjoy any winery tours, so I would NOT recommend bringing kids on this only because there are cheaper options for train rides without wine tours in the area. I think this is perfect for couples and maybe groups of people who have the same tastes.
