Make your way to Battery Park and meet your guide at Castle Clinton, a historic fort that was once considered as a possible site for the Statue of Liberty. Board the ferry to Liberty Island, and learn about the history of the island and the statue, on a guided tour of the island.

Continue into the Pedestal Museum, which contains “flames” from Lady Liberty’s torch, as well as some of the statue’s original structure. Climb to the top of the pedestal for unmatched views of the New York City skyline, New York Harbor, and Liberty Island. Following the guided tour, enjoy time to visit the island on your own—there are places to purchase snacks, park benches with city views, and scenic walking trails. If time permits, the tour will also make a stop at Ellis Island before returning to Battery Park, where the tour concludes.

Please note: ferry lines and security wait times are much longer in the afternoon.

  • Security screenings will take place prior to entering the ferry and pedestal at the statue. The Statue of Liberty is managed by the United States Park Police and visitors to the park are required to undergo airport-style security screenings. All persons and property are subject to search.
  • Prohibited items: any weapons (self-defense or otherwise), locking blades, tools of any kind, large non-folding umbrellas, tripods, laptops, tablet keyboards, luggage, coolers, drones, basketballs, sewing kits, lighter fluid, and anything propelled by aerosol.
  • Backpacks, strollers, large items, & food and beverages must be checked into lockers on Liberty Island prior to entering the statue pedestal. These lockers are available for $0.25 per locker. This fee is NOT included in the tour price.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour starts on time. You will not be able to catch up to the tour if late

This really was a fabulous tour!! I had a friend visiting and wanted to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, but there weren’t any other ferry tickets left with other companies as it was the holidays. I really didn’t want a guided tour! Nevertheless, on a freezing and unbelievably rainy, dark day we had a superlative outing!! Our guide was most affable and brought it all to life in the most engaging way. Very grateful for a lovely, informative, and moving day. Thank you.

We went the day after Thanksgiving, 11/29/19. We did the afternoon tour with Ibeth. She was an excellent tour guide - she was able to get us to both the Statue and Ellis Island. Good historical background and some good pictures at the Statue to explain how it came to the United States. The biggest issue is that if you take the afternoon tour, and it is busy (which is was very busy to get on to the ferry), then you will have very limited time to go to Ellis Island or look at the grounds around the Statue. Our tour guide did get us to both places before the ferry left, but it was very tight. DRESS WARMLY if you go in in the winter.

Very good tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island despite the rainy weather. Sara our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was both entertaining and informative with her stories and anecdotes during the tour. She was helpful and gave some useful tips for the tour and visiting in New York in general. Tour never felt rushed and there was plenty of time to explore the sights at our own pace. Would definitely recommend particularly if you can get Sara as your guide.
