The tour length was fine. However I think the guide could have explained things better. I think he thought we knew many things already which we didn’t.

Ok tour

Enjoyed it but wasn’t wowed. Even though we were the only one’s waiting at the designated spot, the host didn’t introduce themselves and we had to make the approach to them. The host was very quietly spoken but as we were only a small group it wasn’t such an issue. With a larger group it could have been a problem. That said the host was fairly knowledgeable and the tour was not expensive.

Simon gave a very enjoyable walking tour. As well as giving as an extensive history of the many different colleges with many anecdotes involving many famous alumni he also described what kind of person the university admits and the challenges they face and how they progress. Always involving us making it a 2-way conversation not a lecture. Would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn about Oxford

Just ok

This was an ok tour. Part of the problem was it was raining and cold which obviously is not the fault of the guide but it might have affected our actual tour. It was somewhat hurried and didn’t really talk about Tolkien or others mentioned in the description of the tour.

Knowledgeable guide

Our guide was excellent. We didn't catch his name, but he knew so much about the university and the area. We had our three kids with us, teen down to tween, and they kept up just fine. We absolutely enjoyed our time on this tour and learned very much. We were there on a Monday in February. It was cold and rainy, but still enjoyable.

A good walk along some of Oxford's little known streets

Our guide was good and very, very knowledgeable of the history of Oxford's Colleges and buildings and at times most amusing. We were only a group of 6 but he walked a little fast engaged in deep conversation with one particular visitor. We were on the 11.00am tour listed as the most popular and very disappointed that we could not get into a College. We noticed most Colleges had notices saying that they did not open until the afternoon, so we suggest if you want to get into a College choose a later tour.
