Along the forested highway, visit Oregon’s famous waterfall Multnomah Falls. Join your guide and fellow visitors on Benson Bridge and snap a picture of the 611-foot-tall cascade of water as it crashes below.

Next, continue to Hood River, a picturesque valley town renowned as a prime destination for wind sports. Then take some free time for lunch, shopping or tasting local wines.

Your day concludes back in Portland by early evening.
Itinerary
Pass By:
Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area
The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area protects the spectacular canyon where the Columbia River cuts through the Cascade mountains - with cliffs and overlooks of Washington to the north and Oregon's mountains and waterfalls to the south. The Gorge is unique in its natural and cultural history, as well as its designation as a National Scenic Area. As we drive to Multnomah Falls and Hood River we will be driving through the Columbia River Gorge.
Stop At:
Multnomah Falls
A waterfall as magnificent and memorable as any in the country is located just a 30- minute drive outside of Portland. Visiting Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring, awe-inspiring cascade of icy water, lets you experience the power and beauty of nature up close and with ease. We will stop here and you will have time to walk to Benson Bridge and explore the historic Multnomah Falls Lodge.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At:
Rowena Crest Viewpoint
Overlooking a major chokepoint along the Ice Age Floods path, Rowena Crest lies at nearly 700 feet above the Columbia River at the upstream end of Rowena Plateau, a miles-long promontory that protrudes into the path of the river. This forces the river around the plateau through a relatively narrow section of the Gorge known as the Rowena Gap. We will stop here and enjoy the view while taking amazing photographs!

Pass By:
Mount Hood
Mt. Hood’s perpetually snowy peak — crowned by eleven glaciers, one for every thousand feet it rises above sea level — can be seen from miles and miles away. It’s home to a total of six ski areas, making it a great base camp for skiers. Beautiful alpine lakes with names like Lost, Trillium and Mirror dot Mt. Hood’s flanks, each offering its own unique view of the mountain.
Stop At:
Timberline Lodge
Constructed in 1937, Timberline Lodge stands on the south slope of Mt. Hood at an elevation of 6,000 feet. This beautiful 55,000 square foot structure rises out of a pristine alpine landscape and is still being used for its original intent – a magnificent ski lodge and mountain retreat for everyone to enjoy. Legendary and awe-inspiring, it's a tribute to the rugged spirit of the Pacific Northwest and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977.

I was not satisfied with the tour, I thought we would go to the place where the picture of the tour was taken and we did not, we were only 30 mins in Mt Hood and just in a hotel. Disappointed about the part. The tour guide was great tho!

Needed more time for Photo Opportunities

The trip was cool. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. I wish we had more time at the photo ops. I would get rid of the trip to see the fish so that we could have more time at Multnomah Falls, Mt. Hood and the view of the lake with the U shaped road. Great day but moved from place to place to quick.

So happy we decided to book this day trip! Phil shared so much knowledge with us and we learned way more than we could have if we tried to take this trip on our own. We got to see a ton of great sights and didn’t feel rushed at all. Highly recommend if you are visiting Portland!

We had a wonderful day exploring Multnomah Falls, Rowena Crest Viewpoint, and Mt Hood on this tour. Phil was our guide, and he was absolutely lovely. He struck a great balance between informative and friendly, and we felt like we had the right amount of independence too. Wonderful way to see these sites. Highly recommend. I took my two teenagers and they enjoyed it too.

Our trip was amazing even though the weather was really challenging. Our guide John was fantastic. His easy-going personality, his knowledge of the state and sites we visited, and his driving skills were all off the charts excellent. My daughter and I really enjoyed it and recommend this tour to anyone. Thanks again John and Viator!
