Palatine Hill, 00186 Rome, Metropolitan City of Rome, Italy
Your tour starts outside the Colosseum, where you’ll meet your guide, a Roman history enthusiast, and skip the entrance line with your fast-track ticket.

Inside, begin below ground to explore the Colosseum’s tunnels, chambers and pits. This section of the amphitheater is only open to a select number of visitors each day, so enjoy this exclusive chance to see more than most people do. While you walk through the underground passageways, listen to stories about the wild animals who were held down here and the Roman gladiators who prepared for their battles here.

Upon exiting the Colosseum, walk with your guide over to the Roman Forum, once the political heart of the city. Take in the sprawl of ancient ruins, and walk up Palatine Hill, once home to Ancient Rome’s wealthy residents, for a view of Circus Maximus, where chariot races took place. Your tour ends on Via Sacra, the main street of Ancient Rome that links the Colosseum to Capitoline Hill.

Please note: The order of sites visited may be reversed during your tour.
Stop At:
Begin your tour of Rome’s most iconic monument with Skip-the-Line access directly through the Gladiator’s Gate. Once the main exit for defeated contenders, this special entrance leads you directly to the parts of the Colosseum most tourists don’t get to see. Your first stop is the Colosseum Underground – the backstage area where gladiators prepared for battle. Here, your expert, English-speaking guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to let you imagine the space as it once was. Scenery and caged wild animals stood ready to be hoisted into the arena by ingenious pulleys. You’ll practically feel the gladiators’ tense anticipation and hear the roar of the blood-thirsty crowd. Then, walk in the gladiators’ footsteps on a partially reconstructed arena stage – a unique and amazing photo opportunity. And unlike the gladiators, you’ll get to ascend from the Arena Floor to the Colosseum’s second tier, where fans cheered the violent spectacles below.

Great experience with great guide

Gigi was an excellent guide. He has a huge knowledge and told us a lot. The tour was very interesting.
Lost our money fue to the pandemic
, Jul 2021
Our cruise was cancelled due to the pandemic and this was the only vendor that was unwilling to shift our tour to the same month next year. I knew the tickets were non-refundable but figured we would at least be able to shift the dates to next year. Its a world-wide pandemic!!!! Think twice before booking ANYTHING that is non-refundable…

The underground tour was totally worth the money.

Our guide, Aníl, was so well versed on the history of the region! She did a great job telling stories to keep the experience entertaining. She shared clear pictures of what the areas used to look like so that you can more clearly imagine what each of the ruins once looked like. I also loved that she debunked common misconceptions. Did you know that the colosseum was largely built by Jewish slaves in just 8 years (+2 for the added upper level)? Meeting place was above the Coloseo metro station. Look for a small blue flag.
Best tour guide in Rome!

We can not thank our guide Michela( I am sorry if spelled wrong). The history and perspectives of the underground tour and up to the arena floor. It’s amazing to see the complexity of the workings. This is a must if you can get a ticket!

Learned a lot

There is so much to see and so much to learn about Palentine Hill, not just the Colosseum. I'm so glad we spent the extra money and opted for the long tour. Our guide was great, very informative, answered all our questions. The three hour tour flew by. Our guide was accomidating to other guests with children and to me stopping to take photos all the time. He would think of something else to tell us while we were stopped and then move on to more. Loved it.
Great tour

The tour guide was wonderful and informative. Way better than the audio tours. Disclaimer...make sure you bring a water bottler or an empty water container to fill up at the spring water locations within the tour. Very hot if your not use to the climate for Rome summers.
