Shore Excursion to Rome from Civitavecchia Port

We visited this grandiose city with Paulo, our driver who provided highlight of each point of interest through the audio device in the car. It was quite an impressive learning experience being able to witness the magnitude of the ancient culture and artistic accompaniments of Rome!

Paolo was our driver. He was very informative and friendly. This tour does not include tickets or tours through main attractions. We knew that ahead of time. It was exactly as we expected.

Loved using Viator instead of cruise tours. Alot of riding in bus but all tours from Viator were in Mercedes passenger cans or buses.

This was a nice day trip to see Rome. Never being there before we wanted to see all the sites. This tour picked us up at the pier and took us straight to Rome to see all the major sites in an air conditioned bus. We had approximately 25-45 in each spot. Although quite rushed you do get to see everything Rome has to offer in a nutshell. The downside is that the driver is not a tour guide so you are left in a spot and have to return to the same spot for pickup, but the driver will point you in the right direction and be there for any questions. Another downside is that you can not really go into a lot of places such as colesium, St. Peter’s, etc. Obviously Rome is busy and there are long lines so this tour doesn’t not allow for visiting those places. But for someone who wanted to see Rome from the outside it is perfect. We were only 12 people on the tour.

Maxim picked us up outside our ship, on time, and proceeded to take us into Rome, and deliver the other passengers in our van to their hotels. Then we had a private tour, just the two of us, to every sight in Rome! Maxim gave us as much time as we wanted at every site--the Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican--then asked if their was any place else he could take us! He was an exceptional tour guide and driver, and we enjoyed every minute. He delivered us safely to our hotel and also arranged to provide future transportation to the airport for us. Our guide Francesca was phenomenal! We were so lucky- she took us to the best cultural landmarks as well as a cute pizza shop and we loved every minute of our tour with her- I’m so happy we got to see Rome and I have her to thank! :) The van was spacious and comfortable with working AC, directions were excellent and the audio guide was a nice touch. Very happy to recommend!

When I had booked this tour I had booked 2 vehicles to accommodate our big group of 23. They had confirmed with us that it would just be us and no other travelers. When we arrived at port they put all of us on a large tour bus with another couple, which is fine. However, there was no audio guide in English, the bus driver couldn't speak any English at all. We got no historical descriptions of the sites we were visiting prior to getting off the bus. He would sign language us what time to return to the bus at each stop. Then there was no bottled water provided either, which was said in the description of the tour. We were disappointed in this excursion.

Se espera um tour completo, esqueça !! pois se não pedir não tem o audio que lhe prometem na apresentação. Resumiu-se a pouco mais uma viagem aos pontos turisticos de Roma. Em cada paragem dizem-lhe a direcção a esse ponto e quantos minutos tem para a visita... O importante era que todos fossemos almoçar ao restaurante que o condutor escolheu !!! enfim...
