  • Meeting place: Via del Colosseo 24 (just a 2 minute walk from the Colosseum metro stop)
  • All clients will be asked to show a photo ID, you must bring a photo ID to be allowed into the Colosseum.
  • The tour reservations have strict timing. To join the tour you are required to be at the meeting point for check-in at least 15 minutes prior to your tour departure time.
  • If you arrive late for the meeting time, it will not be possible to join the group or reschedule, unless you pay for the activity again. As per "No Show" rules you will not be entitled to a refund.
  • Please be advised capacity regulations and security may delay the tour departure. This could also influence the smooth running of the tour especially on national holidays and events.
  • All visitors must pass through the monument/attraction security check please allow at least 20 minutes to clear security
  • The exact timings and reservations can vary, dependant on the monument/attractions administration offices availabilities and decisions on the booking day and can be subject to last minute changes. Departure time can differ up to 20 minutes from your selected time.
  • Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not recommended for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair.
  • Please be aware that large bags/backpacks/suitcases are not permitted in the monument/ attraction. Only very small bags are allowed. Please do not bring these items with you on the day of your tour as there are no cloakrooms at the monument.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Dress code is comfortable clothing
  • The tour will consist of 2 separate parts, 1 hour in the Colosseum & 1.5 hours in the Roman Forum or Palatine hill area.
  • The Colosseum portion of the tour will last approximately 1 hour.
  • The Roman Forum & Palatine Hill part of the tour will last approximately 1.5 hours and have various meeting times throughout the day.
  • These tours are separated by a break to allow time for pictures or to spend more time in the monument or attraction

Tour the Forum, then see the Colosseum on your own.

I expected the addition of the underground and restricted upper level tour to be compelling, and it simply wasn't. Frankly, the entirety of the Colosseum tour was underwhelming. The underground portion included a single room, and the upper portion, a single terrace. It was a slow and uninteresting presentation. I couldn't shake the feeling that I was touring a construction site, with screening, boarding, and scaffolding throughout. However, part of the tour included a visit to the Forum, about which I was initially uninterested. Giovanni led a well-paced. compelling tour around the potentially confusing Forum grounds, with deep knowledge and personal charm. I would highly recommend the Forum tour, but skip the Colosseum part, skim a guidebook, and visit on your own.

The tour itself was excellent. Told to be at the meeting place incorrect time. Also second tour of Roman Forum not scheduled correctly. Tour was delayed, we didnt get a full tour. Both tour guides were excellent. Poor orginisation not their fault.

Interesting historical tour worth every minute.

We learned a lot of interesting facts about the Colosseum that are somewhat exaggerated in movies...Other things that are not even mentioned in a movie. Seeing the underground was by far worth every penny and I must admit that the costs were not unreasonable. Views from the upper level were spectacular. If you have problems with stairs it will be a challenge however, there is an elevator that can get you to some of the levels. When making your arrangements just ask what you can get to. I have difficulties with stairs but I managed with help in some of the areas where the lift wont get you. Our guide Mrs.S Agnese (I believe her name was Sarah) was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. She took the time to explain everything and answered questions when asked. Standing in awe within the bricks of this magnificent structure was something we will never forget.

MISSED 2ND PART OF TOUR

Guide for the underground was great, however there was confusion when six of us had to split up for our Roman Forum tour. The other guide was looking for six to take, which six did leave our group, but not our six as our guide told us to stay with her. After she was done, she had no idea that we had to go to the Forum. Other than that and paying more for a tour that didn't happen, the Colloseum was breathtaking! Our guide is an archiologist so she was very informative.

This was a great tour to see a piece of Ancient Rome . Our guide Alex was wonderful. He had an engaging way of sharing the history, including visuals of what certain areas might have looked like. We were passed to an archeologist for the colosseum underground. Very knowledgeable and kept the tour interesting.

Really enjoyed the tour. Informative, great guides, easy to understand. There's so much to see in the Colosseum and also the Forum that 2-3 hours doesn't really cover it all but this tour was a great introduction to both the Colosseum and Forum. Having the radio to hear the guides was appreciated since it allowed the opportunity to look around a bit and still hear the guides. It was well-organized and well run. I would highly recommend.

I have taken many great tours thru Viator, and my recent small group tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum with Patrick at Explore Italy tours was the best one yet. We only had ten people in our group, and Patrick, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and had a fantastic sense of humor which kept everyone engaged. I strongly recommend this tour!

Very interesting tour and especially the under ground part. Our guide was really good and helpful. Unfortunetly we never done the 2nd part of the tour, which was Palantine Hill as it was heavy rain but the guide did offer and said we could come back the next day but we were leaving that day!
