You will be asked to also give your name, last name and date of birth (at the beginning of the tour if not provided beforehand.) Security may prevent you from entering the site if the information provided is not accurate and/or don't match the one on your ID.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult
  • Infant price applies with the minimum of one adult
  • Colosseum and Roman Forum are ancient sites and not wheelchair friendly. We encourage those with mobility problems to book a private tour, in order to allow the guide to adapt the pace to their specific needs. This tour lasts 4 hours and a fair amount of walking is involved, including some stairs and uphill paths.
  • Strollers are allowed but not recommended, as stairs are steep and the ground is uneven; children must be carried by an adult or be able to walk for most of the tour
  • There is no scheduled break, but it will be possible to stop for restrooms along the path, as needed
  • Food is allowed in the archeological area
  • For security reasons, all visitors and their luggage shall be screened; all objects (including mobile phones) must be put in the bag/backpack or in the tray for X-ray screening. Large backpacks, camping bags, bulky bags, and luggage/trolleys are not allowed; medium and small backpacks can be shouldered and must be checked, as any other bag, with metal detectors, opened and visually inspected by security
  • Group size limited to 24 people
  • The Colosseum Administration, which depends on the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities has the faculty to close the Colosseum, or parts of it, with or without notice, for events, strikes, heavy rain, or any other reason. In which case, we will offer an alternative itinerary as it seems fit and offer a partial refund.
  • Wear comfortable shoes; bring hat and sunscreen. Please note that sprays of any kind are not allowed inside the Colosseum.

This is an excellent tour that covered all areas of the arena and gives a sneak peek into the culture of those times. Our tour guide Francesca was engaging, funny, and extremely informative. Although the tour ran over the allotted 3 1/2 hours, she did not rush and answered our questions thoroughly. My sisters and I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it. It was money well spent and a worthwhile experience!

This was my 3rd time to visit the Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill and I got the chance to experience all of them in ways I never imagined. We had one tour guide for the entire time who was personable and knowledgeable. At the Colosseum the tour was lead by a docent/guide who took us to the Gladiator arena, the underground, and to the third tier. She made sure we knew the stories behind each of the areas and patiently answered all of our questions. I saw parts of the Palatine Hill that I had not seen before and heard lots of interesting facts about life on the Hill. The tour ended after a historical overview of the Roman Forum and ample free time to explore it. I said at the end of the tour this was the best $100 I had ever spent on touring.

Wow! This tour was amazing. We received a full tour of the entire Colosseum which included the underground where the gladiators and animals for the events were held. Our guide, Andrea, did a awesome job at giving us a full picture of Ancient Rome and how the areas looked during Ancient Rome. We then proceed to Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum to receive even more in-depth information regarding this time frame. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Book early as a limited number of people are allowed to go underground.

Dear john65kis, I couldn't agree more, booking on time is crucial for the underground as a max. of 24 people are allowed down there (regulations set by the Colosseum) and therefor limited tickets are released. I’m so glad that we booked this tour! The starting location was easy to find based on the given information. We had two guides, one that stayed with us the whole time, and one that toured us specifically through the colosseum. Both of these ladies were great! Very kind, charismatic, informative, and easy to understand. The tour itself was also really great. Getting to access the arena floor and underground was really cool, but getting to access the top level of the stadium was equally as good because we were able to get a great view of the entire colosseum without the crowds. I equally enjoyed our time at Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Our guide toured us through Palatine and then gave us an overview of the Forum while we had a view from above. We were then set free to explore the Forum on our own. I really loved hearing about these sites from our guides. I think the colosseum would have been great regardless, but not sure we would have fully appreciated it all for what it really is without the interpretation. I’d highly recommend this tour!

Our guide Alana, was exceptional. The visit to the coliseum was outstanding. Seeing the underground area where the gladiators and animals were kept was fascinating. We saw an historical representation of how the 80 elevators were used to transport the fighters and animals to the arena floor. After learning everything we wanted to know about the coliseum, we then climbed to Palatine hill. The emperors palace and grounds were amazingly well preserved for being built 2000 years ago. The view from the top was breathtaking. The Forum below with temples, arches and other structures was amazing. There were only eight of us on the tour and Alana was most helpful.
