This activity will end right where it started.
Meet your knowledgeable guide at the tourist information office in the middle of Strasbourg, where you’ll climb into a comfortable minivan to start your tour. Head out along the Alsace Wine Route (Routes des Vins d’Alsace in French), which is a 105-mile (170-km) route winding through the rolling hills at the base of the Vosges Mountains. This area is home to hundreds of famous vineyards.

The first stop on your wine tour is the wine area called Mittelbergheim, where the grands crus of Kastelberg, Zotzenberg and Wiebelsberg are located. This area is known for its excellent Riesling wines, which are typically thought of as German. At the first winery of your tour, sample Riesling along with some sylvaner and pinot blanc.

Next, head for Dambach-la-Ville. This village produces more wine than any other in Alsace, including one of the finest Alsatian wines of all — frankstein grand cru. At the second winery stop of the tour, sample wines in a classic wine cellar (caveau in French) while learning how the region’s soil and climate combine to produce exceptional Riesling and gewürztraminer wines.

Take a break at midday for lunch (own expense), followed by a visit to the Ribeauvillé-Riquewihr wine area. There are five grands cru here — Kirchberg, Osterberg, Geisberg, Schoenenbourg and Sporen. Here again you’ll find the wine production is dominated by Riesling, although other wines of note include Muscat, gewürztraminer and pinot gris.

Spend some time in the charming villages of Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr, where you’ll have your last two wine tasting sessions at two of the best-loved wineries in the Alsace. Hear about how some of the chateaux making wine in the area — such as the Hugel and Trimbach families — have been making wine in the area for hundreds of years.

At the conclusion of a day-long wine tour through the Alsace, climb back into the minivan for the relaxing ride back to Strasbourg.

Florence led a fun and informative tour about the Alsatian Wine Route that took me from zero to hero when it comes to Alsatian wine. Her knowledge of wine and the region was unmatched. The wine tastings we attended were all uniquely different and helped me understand the nuanced differences between wines in this region. Highly recommended f0r wine-lovers of all levels!

Florence our guide was wonderful, informative and made the tour so much fun. 3 total different wineries with about 18 tastes total so you got to sample a lot of really great Alsace Wine. Lunch in a little village with plenty of time to wander the streets. She took us up into the vineyards where we got to see the grapes-the vines up close. she drove us through the small villages of alsace and gave us great history information about the towns as well as the The Alsac history with the german/french influences. She was an amazing guide as well as a trained Sommelier.

Great wine tour in Alsace

This tour was lovely. We got to see some of the smaller wineries and vineyards in Alsace. She took our wine preferences into account before we went to the wineries and helped with the translation when the language barrier got a little difficult. She also had recommendations for other wineries and locations the next time we came to the region. We had gone on a tour with this company the day before for another reason and Pauline was careful to show us new places we hadn't seen.

Wonderful day with the Alsace Wine Road wine makers

The selection of three different types and sizes of cellars made the tastings very interesting. I would have liked to spend more time in the actual vineyards with a grower. The guide was very knowledgeable and flexible with the timing.

This tour was amazing! Our guide Adrienne was very informative and personable. Each of the tastings were unique and we got to learn about the special ways they make their wine. You can also buy bottles after each tasting. This is a tour I would happily do again.

Florence was awesome! She shared so much knowledge and made the tour educational and interesting. She also helped us arrange grouping our shipping from all three wineries. The wineries that she took us to were very diverse and all equally interesting with great tastes. This trip is a must do and so worth the price.

Fantastic day out

Florence, our guide, knowledge of the area was incredible. She was incredibly passionate about the Alsace and looked after everyone on the trip. The vineyards we visited were all very different, that’s something I really appreciated. I learned so much on the trip! We will definitely be back to the Alsace. One watch out if your vegan or vegetarian or looking for Kosher it is very difficult to find anything to eat in the village where you stop for lunch. So maybe bring your own food on the trip.
