Your tour from Venice to Murano, Torcello, and Burano begins as you board your motorboat and set off across the Venetian Lagoon to your first stop, the island of Murano, which is actually several small isles dissected by a wide canal. Disembark the boat to walk around Murano with your guide.

Visit a glass factory, where you watch a glassblower creating beautiful pieces of glassware, a Murano tradition that dates back to 1291. Hear a bit about the island’s history from your guide, who tells you about Murano’s prosperity in the 1400s and 1500s, when it was the center of glassmaking in Europe. Then go admire other sights like churches decorated with mosaics and other ornamental details.

Next, visit Torcello, an island established between the 5th and 6th centuries, to see its ornate palaces and churches. Highlights include the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, founded in the 7th century, and the excavated remnants of the baptistery in the Church of Santa Fosca. Then head to your third stop, Burano, an island known for its lace production, which dates back to the 16th century and was once the best in Europe. While you visit local shops and a museum to admire high-end lace on display, admire the island’s brightly-colored fishermen’s houses.

Your tour then ends with the return boat ride to Venice.

Great value but not a 'tour'

First of all, this is not necessarily a tour. There was a few minutes of commentary between the island and that was it. There were no activities apart from a glassworkibg demonstration. We had 50 minutes at each island to do whatever we wanted before going to the next place. At first I was kind of disappointed since it really wasn't a "tour". But without this I would have been in venice the entire time and unable to check out some of the other islands easily. Where this tour really shines is convenience. You're basically paying the same fare as public transit but have dedicated transport and a set itinerary. It might not be for everyone since 50 minutes on the island may be too much or too little depending on how you're feeling, but you're free stay longer and leave the tour at any time and find your own way back. I would have considered doing this on the last island (got dinner and spend time exploring) however since it's December, the sun set and it was already getting dark. You could easily do this yourself by purchasing 3 one way public transit tickets or a day pass, but some of the islands only had hourly service. We never had to wait. So for that reason alone I think this was well worth the €20.

Glass making in Murano was very interesting to watch. Torcedlo was not very interesting at all and could cut out of the tour and the hour spent there would be better allocates to more time in Murano and Burano. Burano was absolutely beutiful and very picturesque.

    Great Picture Opps

For as cheap as it is, it’s worth it for the awesome pictures you’ll get at 2/3 of the islands. Personally I think they should skip the island where there’s nothing but an old church (Torcello). But still a good experience overall and the pictures we got in Murano and Burano were some of the very best from our whole Italy trip. If you have a few hours to kill, this is a good find! It was super easy to find the dock and there were no issues at all getting to/from the boat.

We loved Burano and wish we could have spent more time there. Of course Murano is famous for its glass blowing demonstration but after that it was more of a buying frenzy.

Was not enough time on the islands, especially Burano. Just doesn’t make sense to do them all at once. Next time will do one at a time with public transportation

The 3 islands all had something different to offer. The glass factory was a unique experience and torcello was a mini Venice.
